World Intensive and Critical Care Congress Took Place in İstanbul With the Contributions of TİKA

16th World Intensive and Critical Care Congress was organized at İstanbul Congress Center the with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

Organized biennially by World Federation of Intensive and Critical Care, “World Intensive and Critical Care Congress” took place in İstanbul this year with the contributions of Society of Turkish Intensivists and TİKA.

The congress took place between 26th and 30th of August, 2023 and approximately 1500 medical specialists from 82 countries have attended.

Knowledge, experiences and research findings were shared in the congress. It also enabled contribution on intensivists’ education and experience, creating networks of education and research on intensive care, and upgrading the standards and quality of patient care.

Preparations for disasters such as a pandemic or earthquake and the paths to be followed after such disasters have been examined in detail.

During the congress; concepts of artificial intelligence, nano medicine, individualized medicine, the future of intensive care, green hospital and intensive care have been touched upon.

Along with the field of medicine, historical and cultural activities have been organized in the congress as well.

Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı depicted the historical facts on the duty of Florance Nightingale at Selimiye Barracks in Istanbul to the attendees. Nightingale is among the pioneers of intensive care and her first appearance in history was during the Crimean War.
