11 September 2023TİKA Supports Turkish Language Education in Kazakhstan
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has started a modern Turkish language class in South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University, which is in Kazakhstan’s Shymkent.
The opening ceremony of the Turkish language class took place on 1st of September, the date of the beginning of the new semester in Kazakhstan.
Rector of South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University Güljan Sugurbayeva, Chairman of Hoca Ahmed Yesevi University Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Muhittin Şimşek, Deputy Rector of Hoca Ahmed Yesevi University Dr. Peyami Battal, Shymkent Türkiye Honorary Consul Latipsha Assanov, TİKA’s coordinator in Kazakhstan Hikmet Özdenoğlu, academics, students and families attended the ceremony.
The goal of the project carried out by TİKA is to enable the teacher candidates to learn the Turkish language in the university, the sole purpose of which is to educate teacher candidates; and therefore, positively contribute to the improvement of the relation these two countries have.
About South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University
South Kazakhstan State Pedagogical University is in Kazakhstan’s Shymkent, and it is the first higher education institution that educates teacher candidates for the secondary schools in the area. It has started its activity under the name of Shymkent Teachers' Institute in 1937 and was turned into Pedagogical Institute in 1954.
The university currently has 6598 students; 6047 of which are undergraduates, 518 of which are postgraduates and 33 of which are PhD students. It continues its activities on education in order to meet the need of teachers on various branches.
