Turkey Shares Their Experience in Tourism with Uzbekistan

The “Current Approaches in Tourism Education” training, which is the introduction module of the Tourism Education Program (TUREP) run by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), was held in Uzbekistan with the participation of 130 tourism experts.

Held in online and face-to-face sessions in the city of Samarkand with the collaboration of the Turkish Ministry of National Education, State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development and Silk Road University; the training was attended by 130 tourism experts such as Uzbek vocational teachers, academics and executives.

Focusing on information sharing about the current tourism education models implemented in Turkey and the leading tourism countries of the world, these trainings also involved topics such as the working process of the tourism and hotel management schools in Turkey and the “Turkish On-the-Job Training Model”, the alternative types of tourism, the measures to be taken against COVID-19 as part of safe tourism practices, remote training practices in tourism education, accommodation and travel services.

Taking the floor during the closing ceremony, the Education Department Head of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, Shuxrat Isaqulov, expressed his gratitude towards TİKA and the training committee for the trainings and stated that they were eager for the tourism trainings that were planned to take place in the future.

Another speaker at the ceremony, the Silk Road University Vice Rector Juliboy Eltazarov referred to the historical roots of the Turkish-Uzbek brotherhood, reminded that the Bukharan Republic had sent 11 million gold coins to support the War of Independence of Turkey and said that Turkey now supports Uzbekistan through TİKA in every area. Expressing his trust to TİKA and Turkey, Eltarazov stated his wish that the Turkish-Uzbek cooperation would increasingly continue in every area and expressed his gratitude towards the Turkish committee.

Last but not least, the Training Team Supervisor and the Principal of Antalya Falez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Ersümer Eren took the floor and thanked everyone for the interest shown in the trainings, stating that they were ready to provide support for the Uzbek experts both in Uzbekistan and Turkey.

The Turkish trainers also visited the Bostanliq Tourism Vocational High School around Tashkent and got together with the school administrators.

As a result of the meetings, the studies were started in order to make Bostanliq Tourism Vocational High School and Antalya Falez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School sister schools and to realize exchange programs between these two schools.

The instructive trainings, which are the applied second stage of the program, are scheduled to take place in Antalya during summer.
