TİKA Supports Vocational Education in Mongolia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) equipped the Culinary Arts Department at Khovd Development Polytechnic College in Mongolia.

Khovd Development Polytechnic College is an educational institution that has been contributing to employment in western Mongolia for 78 years. The college has helped nearly 700 people enter a profession as chefs and food production and technology specialists.

While the Culinary Arts program needed to consist of 30 percent theoretical and 70 percent applied courses, students could not attend applied courses due to the lack of technical equipment and materials. As part of TİKA’s project, the technical equipment and materials needed by the Culinary Arts department were provided to the school.

The opening ceremony of the project was held as part of the visit of Dr. Ümit Naci Yorulmaz, Vice President of TİKA, to Mongolia.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Dr. Ümit Naci Yorulmaz, Vice President of TİKA, stated that the unemployment rate was high in the rural areas of Mongolia, and stressed the importance of helping young people living in rural areas enter a profession and employing them. Yorulmaz stated that TİKA implemented a project for the donation of technical equipment and materials to the Culinary Arts Department at the college in order to contribute to solving this problem, helping young people enter a profession, and employing them. He added that the project aimed to contribute to the economy, production, and development of Mongolia and to help students enter a profession.

Bayarmaa Davaa, Director of the College, noted that Khovd Development Polytechnic College is an important educational institution that helps young people living in rural areas in western Mongolia enter a profession, and that they offered vocational education in 32 fields to 1378 students. Davaa thanked TİKA for providing students with the opportunity to attend applied courses, as well as theoretical ones, as part of the said project.
