TİKA Supports the Health Infrastructure of Afghanistan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) installed “Pediatric Intensive Care Unit” at the Farah State Hospital in Farah Province.

The deficiencies of the health infrastructure in Farah Province were posing a great danger, especially for pediatric patients. The fact that Farah State Hospital had not have a pediatric intensive care unit caused the critically ill pediatric patients to be transported to larger central provinces. However, due to the difficulties that occur during these transportation processes, approximately 100 children were losing their lives each year before they could reach the hospital.

In order to solve this problem, TİKA installed pediatric intensive care unit with medical devices and consumables (x-ray inkjet printer, EKG unit, ultrasound, ventilators and defibrillators, bedside monitors, radiant heater, sickbeds, baby incubators) to Farah State Hospital.

Provincial Health Director of Farah, İhsanullah Şakir, TİKA’s Coordinator in Herat Afarat Deniz and the hospital directors have joined the opening ceremony of the intensive care unit.

Provincial Health Director of Farah, Şakir and the hospital directors have expressed their thanks to TİKA for their support.
