TİKA Supports Refugee Children in Namibia

1,000 children living in the Namibia Osire Refugee Camp now have access to a playground and sports equipment for the first time thanks to the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

Children who live under difficult conditions due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the limited social activities in the camp now have access to football, basketball, volleyball, and netball equipment, and a playground thanks to the support of TİKA.

In his speech, Camp Officer Penda Iilonga stated that the camp, where 1,000 children live, did not have any children’s playground before, that the playground would be put into service fully after the outbreak, and that sports activities would begin then. He thanked TİKA for its support.

TİKA’s Windhoek Program Coordinator Özlem Güvenç noted that this playground was built as a gift from Turkish children to the children of Namibia on the occasion of the World Refugee Day on June 20. She expressed her gratitude that children would grow up to be healthier individuals thanks to these social activities, which would also contribute to their education.
