TİKA supports Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) installed workshops, study rooms and printing rooms in the new service building of the Faculty of Architecture at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, the most important higher education institution within the fields of construction and architecture in Azerbaijan.

As part of the projects to improve the technical infrastructure of the Faculty of Architecture and to provide an environment for the students where they can receive applied training in modern conditions, the new service building of the faculty was supplied with technical equipment such as 3D scanners and printers, computers, projectors, and smart boards.

The inauguration ceremony of the new rooms installed by TİKA was attended by Turkey’s Ambassador to Baku Erkan Özoral, representatives from the university and TİKA, media outlets, and students.

During his speech, Ambassador Özoral said that this project, which was carried out by TİKA in one of the deeply-rooted educational institutions in Azerbaijan, was sublime. Stating that education in Azerbaijan went through a great improvement especially in the University of Architecture and Construction, Özoral expressed his joy in Turkey’s contributions into these developments.

Gülçöhre Memmedova, the Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, thanked the Republic of Turkey and TİKA for their support in education in Azerbaijan and their contributions into the university.

“The number of educational projects will gradually increase”

TİKA Baku Program Coordinator Teoman Tiryaki pointed out that educational support projects play an important role among the activities which are carried out by TİKA in Azerbaijan, and that these educational projects would continue increasingly.

With a deeply-rooted history of 98 years, the Faculty of Architecture plays an essential role in fulfilling the need for educated local personnel in Azerbaijan within the field of architecture. With more than 800 students, the faculty also accepts students from other countries. 227 of the 266 foreign students that study at this faculty are citizens of the Republic of Turkey.

At the newly-established laboratory and classrooms of the new service building of the Faculty of Architecture, the students will receive both theoretical and applied training. Set up with the support of TİKA, this laboratory and the classrooms will provide the opportunity for interactive classes with foreign educational institutions, which the university is in collaboration with.
