TİKA Provides Technical Support to Algeria

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built a teleconference room and an interactive education unit in the National Agency for the Development of Health Research of the Ministry of Higher Education in the city of Oran in Algeria.

The teleconference room built by TİKA will enable healthy communication with healthcare providers working in other provinces of Algeria, ensure coordination in the fight against different infectious diseases, especially against the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, and facilitate distance learning activities to be carried out with specialists from Algeria and abroad.

Director of the Agency Prof. Nabil Aoufen stated that TİKA’s support would contribute greatly to healthcare activities in Algeria, that they had long wanted to organize international training courses in telemedicine and introduce innovations in healthcare to Algeria more rapidly, and that TİKA’s support was very important in this respect.

TİKA’s Algeria Coordinator Dr. Alparslan Çevik said that TİKA had recently supported scientific activities in Algeria and that the center would host important international training courses attended by healthcare providers both from the city of Oran and from other cities. Stating that the works on Algeria’s first digital manufacturing laboratory, which will be built by TİKA, would be completed in the coming days, Çevik noted that TİKA will also build a planning center operating in different fields, especially in infectious diseases and urban and regional planning, in Algeria.
