19 April 2021TİKA Provides Support for the Ali-Shir Nava'i Tashkent State University
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided technical education equipment for 3 classrooms at Ali-Shir Nava'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature.
An inauguration ceremony was held for the classrooms at Ali-Shir Nava'i Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature. The Turkish Ambassador in Tashkent Olgan Bekar, the Education Counsellor Ali Eyyüpkoca, the Culture and Promotion Counsellor Alparslan Akıncı, and the TİKA Tashkent Program Coordinator Cemalettin Tüney got together with the University Rector Şuhrat Siraceddinov before the ceremony and discussed the cooperation between two countries. During the meeting, Sireceddinov said that it was an honor to host the Ambassador of Turkey, a great country and nation, at their university. Sireceddinov emphasized that TİKA's support for the classrooms at the university, which was named after Nava'i who played an important role in the relationship between Uzbekistan and Turkey, was really important for them and that this would take the relationship to a higher level. Having pointed out that the students and the academic instructors at the university showed great interest in the Turkish language, Siraceddinov stated that many students were learning Turkish at the university, where Turkish instructors provide Turkish language education. The Rector Siraceddinov said: "We believe it's now time to found the Ali-Shir Nava'i Center in Turkey. We opened up Nava'i centers in many countries, including the ones that speak Turkic languages. Of course, we think that Turkey must have one of these as well. This will be one of our collaborations. We're ready to provide any kind of support in order to open a Turkish Cultural Center in Uzbekistan and an Ali-Shir Nava'i Center in Turkey.
Having emphasized the special meaning behind acting as the Ambassador of Turkey in Uzbekistan, the Tashkent Ambassador Bekar expressed his satisfaction regarding the collaboration as well as being at an university that has been named after Nava'i, one of the greatest poets of the Turkic people. Having stated that he supported founding an Ali-Shir Nava'i Center in Turkey, Bekar said: "We need a Ali-Shir Nava'i Center in Turkey, just as we need a Turkish cultural center in Tashkent, so that the interrelationship between two countries improve in every area. As Turkey, we are ready to open an Uzbek Cultural Center in Ankara or Istanbul, and a Turkish Cultural Center in Tashkent."
Following the meeting; Olgan, Tüney and Siraceddinov inaugurated the classrooms for which the projectors, smart boards, wi-fi devices, printers and computers were provided by TİKA. Olgan and Tüney visited the classrooms and spoke with the Uzbek students that receive education there. The Uzbek students thanked the Turkish committee, expressing their affection for Turkey and the Turkish language.
