TİKA Provides Health Aid to North Macedonia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided ambulance support to the Borka Taleski State Hospital in Prilep, which is located in North Macedonia.

The ceremony was attended by Health Minister of North Macedonia Venko Filipçe, Turkey's Ambassador to Skopje Tülin Erkal Kara, TİKA's Skopje Coordinator Aytekin Ayden, Mayor of Prilep İliya Yovanoski, and Hospital Manager Dragi Bogoeski, among many other officials.

In his speech, Minister of Health Venko Filipçe expressed that they carried out excellent collaboration efforts with TİKA, a significant institution in Turkey which he described as a sister nation, and added the following: "TİKA stands out with its ability to provide timely support to places that are truly in need of help." Filipçe, who also mentioned the modernization of the emergency care unit in the pediatric clinic, said, "This resulted in a significant reduction in infant mortality. This ambulance will facilitate the transfer of patients from Prilep to clinics in Skopje."

Ambassador Kara conveyed that TİKA had carried out nearly one thousand projects that touched the lives of many in fields ranging from health to education and agriculture in North Macedonia, and stated that these projects strived to benefit everyone regardless of religion, language, race, and ethnicity.

Moreover, Mayor Yovanoski expressed that they quickly received the support they requested from the embassy and TİKA and said, "It is absolutely extraordinary that our need for an ambulance was quickly met and that it was rapidly delivered."

TİKA's Skopje Coordinator Aytekin Ayden explained that they had implemented several projects in North Macedonia, especially in the field of health, and highlighted that TİKA would continue to contribute to sister nations.

Furthermore, Hospital Manager Bogoeski stated that the fully equipped emergency aid vehicle which was procured would significantly support their activities.

The medical equipment and hardware of the new ambulance were produced in Turkey. 

The high-tech ambulance that meets health standards contains the following: a main stretcher, two movable stretcher platforms, a chair stretcher, an oxygen supply system, a vacuum stretcher, a dustpan stretcher, a spine stabilizer stretcher, a wall type sphygmomanometer, a portable sphygmomanometer, a diagnostic, an inflatable splint set, a vacuum aspirator, a stethoscope, a traction splint set, a KED vest, a ventilator, a defibrillator, a resuscitation bag (backpack), a first aid kit, a burn set, a maternity set, an adjustable neck brace set, a head stabilizer, and a serum hanger.
