02 May 2020TİKA Provides Food and Cleaning Supplies to 1000 Families in Moldova
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed food and cleaning supplies to 1,000 families who were adversely affected by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Moldova, including families with members who are over the age of 63, are on a low income, or who lost their jobs due to the outbreak.
In Moldova, as part of the measures against the outbreak, many workplaces were closed and a curfew was imposed on people over the age of 63. Aid parcels containing staples and disinfecting products were prepared by TİKA and distributed to 1000 families in need in the country. To reach people in need all across Moldova, the parcels were distributed from 3 regions: the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia in the south, Bălți in the north, and Chișinău in the center.
250 aid parcels were provided to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia
In the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, 110 aid parcels containing food and hygiene products were distributed in Comrat, while 90 parcels were distributed in Ceadîr-Lunga, and 50 in Vulcănești.
In her statement, TİKA’s Chișinău Program Coordinator Selda Özdenoğlu noted that TİKA will continue to support the Republic of Moldova during this difficult period that the world goes through. Özdenoğlu said, “As Turkey, we stand in solidarity with our Moldovan brothers and sisters. We will overcome these difficult times together.”
