TİKA Continues Its Assistance Activities in Kosovo as a Response to the Outbreak of COVID19

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributes food parcels to 1,600 families in need in Kosovo to protect social welfare during the fight against the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The distribution continued in the city of Prizren.

Turkey’s Consul General to Prizren Serdar Özaydın, Mayor of Prizren Mytaher Haskuka, and TİKA’s Pristina Coordinator Hasan Burak Ceran attended the distribution, which was carried out in cooperation with the Municipality of Prizren.

In his statement, Consul General Özaydın said that as one of the leading countries in international humanitarian assistance, Turkey supports Kosovo in all areas. Reminding that Turkey had previously sent medical supplies to Kosovo to combat the outbreak, Özaydın noted that food parcels containing 32 tons of food would be distributed across Kosovo. Özaydın said that they delivered 320 aid parcels to people in need in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, the day before, and would distribute 576 food parcels in Prizren.

Mayor of Prizren Haskuka said that this food aid, which was provided by TİKA, was the biggest assistance provided to Prizren during the outbreak. He added that many families are having financial difficulties due to the partial curfew, which was imposed across Kosovo and entered its second month. Noting that it is very important for them that Turkey has provided assistance during this period when all the countries are experiencing a shortage of food and medical supplies, Haskuka said, “I would like to thank the Republic of Turkey for their medical assistance and the food parcels they have distributed to those in need.”

The food parcels, which were started to be distributed in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, yesterday, will be delivered to those in need in 10 municipalities across Kosovo.
