TİKA Provides Food Aid to 4,000 Families in Iraq

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) delivered aid parcels containing staples to a total of 4,000 families in need, including 2,000 in Kirkuk and 2,000 in Erbil, in cooperation with the Iraqi Turkmen Front and the Iraqi Red Crescent Society.

Turkey’s global fight against the coronavirus continues in Iraq. TİKA provided food aid to 4,000 families who live under difficult conditions in Kirkuk and Erbil since most of them are day laborers and cannot go to work due to the curfew imposed in Iraq last month.

Speaking to press members, Hisham Bayraqdar, Kirkuk Provincial Chairman of the ITF, said, “During this global crisis, Turkey and TİKA extend their helping hand not only to Iraq but also to the entire world. In addition to many assistance activities they had previously carried out in Kirkuk, it is Turkey and TİKA again who help those that live under very difficult conditions today.”

Hawre Ehsan Sadiq, Head of the Erbil Branch of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, said, “As the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, we are grateful for TİKA. Just as it always helps us, TİKA helped families who are unable to leave their homes due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. This is the proof of close and sincere relations between the two countries.”
