TİKA Provides Equipment to Fishers in Tunisia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided equipment to 80 fishers who catch eels in Tunisia.

TİKA and the Department of Regional Development of the Ministry of Agriculture of Tunisia provided equipment to 80 fishers who are members of the Arous Al-Bouhayra Cooperative (SMSA) and catch eels using a special fishing technique in the basin of La Goulette. As part of the project, different types and sizes of fishing nets, boat engines, and refrigerated transport vehicles were provided. This equipment will improve the existing capacity and increase the income of fishers by allowing the direct sales of products.

Creating sources of regular income for more than 600 families with nearly 40 projects

TİKA has been carrying out technical and development cooperation activities in Tunisia for more than 10 years. The Agency has been supporting agricultural and animal husbandry projects, which are the main sources of livelihood of people living in rural areas, where the employment rate is high. TİKA has carried out many projects and activities in different industries, including nearly 40 projects and activities in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry, in the country since 2012. TİKA’s projects contributed to creating sources of regular income for more than 600 families.
