TİKA Provides 45 Tons of Food Aid to Djibouti

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), Djibouti's Ministry of Social Affairs (SEAS), and the Governorate of Tadjourah have collaborated to provide 45.25 tons of food support to families in need in the capital city of Djibouti and Lac Assal in the Tadjourah Region, where drought is heavily experienced.

Within the framework of the cooperation to fight the 2019 drought and poverty in the Republic of Djibouti, TİKA has distributed 45.25 tons of foodstuffs in the capital city of Djibouti and Lac Assal in the Tadjourah Region, which frequently experiences droughts.

Within the scope of the project, TİKA has provided food for 2,500 people in 500 families that are in need; these families were determined by the Ministry of Social Affairs of Djibouti. Food packages were delivered to the families living in rural areas, especially in the northern regions where drought prevails and agricultural production is insufficient, and to disabled and citizens in need residing in the capital of Djibouti.

Thanks to the food support jointly provided by TİKA and Djibouti's Ministry of Social Affairs, which amounts to 90.5 kg per household, the primary needs of families have been met. The citizens of Djibouti who benefited from the aid expressed their gratitude to Turkey.
