TİKA Implements a Project for Unhindered Access to Theatre in Ukraine

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) renovated the accessible entrance of Maria Zankovetska Theatre in Lviv, Ukraine.

As part of the “Project for Unhindered Access at Maria Zankovetska Theatre in Lviv,” the accessible entrance and sanitary rooms of the theater were renovated for the social and cultural integration of people with disabilities.

The service building of the theatre, which has nearly 800 seats, is located in the Old Town of the city. The theatre, the construction of which began in 1842, has a historical architecture and is the oldest cultural building in the city.

Lviv is one of the most visited cities in Ukraine, and Maria Zankovetska Theatre is one of the most popular attractions for tourists from all over the world.

Launched to help the members of the audience with mobility restrictions derive maximum benefit from cultural activities and to improve their quality of life, the project supported the cultural infrastructure of Lviv, which is the center of cultural and artistic activities in Ukraine.

The project included the renovation of the accessible entrance, the construction of accessible toilets, and the installation of a video surveillance system at the accessible entrance at Maria Zankovetska Theatre in Lviv.
