TİKA Holds an Iftar Dinner in the TRNC

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) held an iftar dinner for people with special needs in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The dinner was attended by a total of 270 people, including the representatives of the Presidential Committee for Persons with Disabilities of the TRNC, Cyprus Foundation for Hearing and Speech Impairment, the Association of Solidarity with People with Disabilities in the TRNC, the Turkish Cypriot Orthopedic Disabled Persons Association, North Cyprus Thalassemia Association, the Association of Solidarity with the Families of People with Disabilities in the TRNC, Cyprus Turkish Disabled Federation, and Algı Special Education Center, as well as adults and children with special needs.

Ali Murat Başçeri, the Republic of Türkiye’s Ambassador to Nicosia; Abdulkadir Boşal, Counselor for Religious Affairs at the Turkish Embassy; Prof. Ahmet Ünsal, President of Religious Affairs of the TRNC; and Havva Pınar Özcan Küçükçavuş, TİKA’s Program Coordinator in Nicosia, also attended the dinner.

The iftar dinner, which brought together members of NGOs operating in this field in the TRNC, began with the prayer of Abdulkadir Boşal, Counselor for Religious Affairs at the Turkish Embassy, and continued with the speeches of the guests. The event also included ney and kudüm performances. In his speech at the ceremony, Ambassador Ali Murat Başçeri wished the guests a good Ramadan and stated that he hoped the spiritual bridges built around iftar tables would bring peace to hearts.

Guests thanked TİKA, stating that they came together at such an event for the first time in a long time. The event ended after the prayer of Prof. Ahmet Ünsal, President of Religious Affairs of the TRNC.
