TİKA Held the First UAV Training in Azerbaijan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Agrarian Science and Innovation Center of Azerbaijan held the first UAV training in Azerbaijan as part of the project “Detection of Surface Reflection and Vegetation Indices for the Multi-Purpose Analysis of Drone-Based Multispectral Images.”

The first UAV training was held in Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Agrarian Science and Innovation Center of Azerbaijan as part of the project “Detection of Surface Reflection and Vegetation Indices for the Multi-Purpose Analysis of Drone-Based Multispectral Images,” developed by TİKA in order to carry out processes such as examining plant growth, detecting diseases, pests, and vegetative stress, identifying soil properties, and estimating productivity more quickly, economically, and efficiently than traditional methods using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

As part of the project, a Turkish-made pesticide spraying drone and a multispectral drone were delivered to the Agrarian Science and Innovation Center of Azerbaijan to be used in agricultural research.

The project also included 5-day applied training on the use of the unmanned aerial vehicles provided by TİKA and pilot training in the UAV A1 category in Azerbaijan. At the end of the training, certificates were presented to the first 22 UAV A1 pilots in Azerbaijan at a ceremony held as part of the Agrarian Innovation Festival in Gobustan District and attended by Elchin Zeynalov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan.

Inam Karimov, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, welcomed the trainers from Türkiye. Kerimov stated that they were “pleased with the great interest in the training and the product” and would “offer 40 percent grant and 40 percent no-interest loan for the purchase of agricultural drones.”
