TİKA Held an Iftar Dinner at the Turkmen Brotherhood Club

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) held an iftar dinner at the Turkmen Brotherhood Club, located in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, as part of Ramadan 2022 Programs.

The dinner was attended by Turkmen authorities in Iraq, representatives of non-governmental organizations, directors serving at ministries, and religious opinion leaders.

In his speech at the dinner, Mustafa Yazıcı, TİKA’s Coordinator in Baghdad, thanked all the guests for attending the iftar dinner, and briefly described TİKA’s activities across Iraq. Yazıcı stressed that Ramadan offered a great opportunity to celebrate the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. He noted that TİKA strove to support families in need in Iraq every Ramadan and would provide food aid to 6000 families this year. Yazıcı noted that the renovation of the Imam Al-adham Abu Hanifa Complex would be completed in June, and that Türkiye is always there for Iraq and the people of Iraq.

In his speech at the dinner, Ali Rıza Güney, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Baghdad, stated that people of different religions, languages, and beliefs live together peacefully in Iraq, which is the country’s richness. Ambassador Güney noted that it is very valuable for all segments to gather around the same iftar table, and thanked TİKA for contributing to the entire Iraq and this unity.

The Turkmen Brotherhood Club in Baghdad, where the iftar dinner was held, was renovated by TİKA in 2019 and put into service for Iraqi Turkmens.
