TİKA Has Become The Only Donor To Aid Senior Citizens In Albania

Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency the only donor institution that have executed projects for senior citizens in Albania in 2012, resumes operations as the only donor that aids senior citizens in 2013 which is declared as “Senior Citizens Year” in the country by the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities.

In scope of the aiding Tirana Elderly House project, Tirana Elderly House’s doctor’s office, laundry room, library and canteen were restored; furniture’s, medical equipment, kitchen supplies and household appliances were renewed. Supplies such as washing machines, fridges, beds, wardrobes, LED TV, table and chairs were provided for the 60 rooms that host senior citizens in the nursing home. Additionally health care equipment, medical devices and medical supplies for the disabled were supplied for nursing home’s clinic.

The equipments supplied by TIKA were delivered with a ceremony to authorities from Tirana Elderly House, which is operating since 1970 as the only nursing home for the elderly in Tirana, Albania where the projects for lonely, mentally disabled, in need or abandoned elderly are insufficient. The ceremony was attended by the Albanian Republic’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Florjon Mima, Albanian Republic’s Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Kastriot Sulka, Chief of Cabinet Kleves Bitron, Tirana Elderly Nursing Home Manager Hysni Kuka, TIKA officials and a number of top-level bureaucrats.

During his speech at the ceremony Albanian Republic’s of Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Florjon Mima stated that TIKA’s operations and activities in Albania further strengthens the relations between two countries which already are at a fine level. Albanian Republic’s of Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Florjon Mima stated that quality care and health services are provided for the elderly sheltered in Tirana Elderly House with fellow country Turkey’s aid and expressed that they grateful to TIKA for their support.

Albanian Republic’s Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Sulka stated that TIKA has always offered help for the disabled, orphans and the elderly. Albanian Republic’s Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Sulka said that TIKA is the only donor that aids lonely, mentally disabled, in need or abandoned senior citizens since 2012. Albanian Republic’s Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Sulka declared that the aforementioned project will contribute the elderly sheltered in Tirana Elderly House to feel a warm family atmosphere.
