TİKA established “Agricultural and Local Production Training Centre” in Jordan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) established “Agricultural and Local Production Training Centre” in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The centre, where diverse trainings on agricultural production, packaging and marketing will be given, is aimed for the youth, women, and small-scale farmers.

The centre is going to operate in Dabouq, a district in the west of Amman. Türkiye’s Consul in Amman Embassy, Abdullah Subaşı, TİKA’s Amman Coordinator, Abdurrahman Soylu and representatives of Turkish institutions in Jordan participated in the opening ceremony.

Subaşı made a statement to the AA reporters at the opening ceremony and said, “This project that concerns agriculture, a significant sector has great importance. Therefore, we expect the project to produce significant effects on Jordanian people.”

Underlining the fact that Türkiye and Jordan have a deep-rooted relation supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and King of Jordan Abdullah II, Subaşı stated, “We are trying to carry out joint projects that would support and contribute to the visions of the two countries.”  

TİKA’s Jordan Coordinator, Abdurrahman Soylu indicated that with the centre they have just opened they aim to support local agricultural products, decrease imports, and carry out activities that would provide financial gains to small scale farmers.

Soylu pointed out that in a period marked by global crises, agriculture proves to be the most important economic sector and said that such projects will contribute to food security.  

Informing the guests about the activities to be carried out at the centre, Soylu maintained that at the centre, small scale farmers, housewives and young people will go through a special program that covers the entire process from production to marketing.

Soylu finally added that TİKA attaches great importance to strengthening the cooperation with Jordan in diverse fields.
