26 August 2022The Senegal Part of the Experience Sharing Program Completed
The volunteer students who visited Senegal under the Experience Sharing Program (ESP) 2022, organized by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) delivered many humanitarian relief supplies from food items to medications to those in need.
As part of the ESP, organized with TİKA’s support, our young volunteers visited the village of Roff in Senegal to deliver humanitarian relief supplies and take part in several agricultural activities. The young people were greeted by Edouard Sarr, Principal of the Village School of Roff; Pierre Ngom, Head of the Village; Diegane Diouf, Head of Environment, Water, and Forestry; and Daouda Ndiaye, Chief Physician of the Outpatient Clinic, accompanied by local songs. Then, they delivered medications and medical supplies to the village’s outpatient clinic.
Stationery items were donated to the village school
Later, our young volunteers set up a library at the village school and delivered the school bags and stationery items they brought for students to Principal Sarr. TİKA’s young volunteers took part in the construction of the water distribution reservoir, the improvement of the water well, and various agricultural activities, all of which were carried out by TİKA in Roff.
Edouard Sarr, Principal of the Village School of Roff, thanked TİKA for their support on behalf of the villagers. Sarr noted that the library was a very important and necessary project for the students living in the village. He said, “The friendship between Senegalese President Macky Sall and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan increases Türkiye’s support for Senegal. This bridge of friendship affects TİKA’s assistance activities as well.”
A visit to Mbour Orphanage
As part of the program, our volunteers visited Mbour Orphanage in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, and delivered the baby food, diapers, and cleaning supplies provided by TİKA. Mbour Orphanage provides accommodation and education to nearly 200 orphans. TİKA supports the orphanage from time to time.
After completing their work, our volunteer students visited TİKA’s Program Coordination Office in Dakar. They received information from Coordinator Fuat Canan about the projects implemented in Senegal. The ESP 2022, coordinated by TİKA, is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye, Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, Turkish Airlines, Anadolu Agency, and Turkish Radio and Television Corporation.
