The Photography Exhibition “Victory of Democracy” Was Held in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) opened the photography exhibition “July 15 – Turkey Is Impassable,” featuring the photographs of the night of the coup attempt by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization, in Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day, events.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by Sadık Babür Girgin, the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Sarajevo; Mirza Ganić, Mayor of Visoko; Muhammed Ünal, TİKA’s Sarajevo Program Coordinator; Amila Koso, Director of Altindag-Visoko Cultural Center; representatives of the institution; and citizens. The ceremony began with the national anthems of both countries and the prayer for dear martyrs.

In his speech, Mirza Ganić, Mayor of Visoko, stated that the people of Visoko could learn about what happened on the night of July 15 at first hand as a group of religious officials from Visoko were in Istanbul that night. Ganić said, “On the night of July 15, we were worried both for our own citizens and for the people of Turkey, which is a sister nation.”

Sadık Babür Girgin, the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Sarajevo, noted that five years ago, the people of Turkey, along with the security forces, military, parliament, and leaders, took a stand against the coup attempt plotted against Turkey’s national unity and democracy by a terrorist group infiltrated the state. He stated that they commemorated martyrs with gratitude, and he thanked veterans wholeheartedly. He stressed that especially younger generations should be vigilant and that the two countries should cooperate against terrorist groups such as FETÖ.
