The Bangladesh Part of the Experience Sharing Program Completed

10 volunteer medical and nursing students from different universities in Türkiye visited Bangladesh and carried out several activities as part of the Experience Sharing Program 2022 (ESP 2022), organized by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

The volunteer students who visited Bangladesh under the Experience Sharing Program 2022, coordinated by TİKA, performed health screenings and examinations and raised awareness at the Turkish Field Hospital in Balukhali Refugee Camp, which is located in the city of Cox's Bazar and is home to Rohingya Muslims.

Many examinations and health screenings were performed

The students had the chance to perform health screenings and examinations, observed procedures, and provided hygiene products and health advice to 250 women at the Turkish Field Hospital, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Türkiye and has nearly 30 Turkish employees, as well as many Bangladeshi and Rohingya employees, treats more than 1,000 Rohingya Muslims every day, and offers all services free-of-charge.

1,000 hygiene packages were distributed, and 200 fruit trees were planted

During their visit to the camps, the volunteer students distributed 1,000 hygiene kits, each of which include 3,000 liters of liquid hand soap, dishwashing liquid, and laundry detergent, which were manufactured by Türkiye Diyanet Foundation at the camps and donated to Rohingya Muslims, and planted 200 climate-appropriate fruit trees at the ideal locations in the camp. Later, the volunteer students took part in cleaning activities with local children at Cox's Bazar Beach, the world’s longest continuous beach.

The students visited the Turkish Embassy in Dhaka, TİKA’s Program Coordination Office in Dhaka, and Turkish Airlines Dhaka Office as part of the program and learned about the activities of these organizations in Bangladesh.

The students had the chance to examine TİKA’s several activities in Bangladesh on site. They also visited many historical and cultural sites in Bangladesh, such as Lalbagh Fort, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Hazrat Hazi Khwaja Shahbaz Khan Mosque, Gurdwara Nanak Shahi, Dhakeshwari Mandir, and the Curzon Hall in Dhaka; the World Peace Pagoda and Shalban Bihar in Comilla; and Lake Bhatiary, the Tomb of Bayazid Bastami, and the Bangladesh Betar Museum in Chittagong.
