The protocol concerning the restoration and landscaping work for the mausoleum belonging to the Abyssinian King Eshame and the tombs of 15 companions in the village of Necash, near the city of Mekele in the State of Tigray about 800 kilometers from the capital of Ethiyopia, Addis Ababa; was signed in Mekele between the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency and the State of Tigray Culture and Tourism Agency.

The area in which the mausoleum of King Necashi, who took the first Moslems to immigrate to Abyssinia under his protection, and the tombs of 15 companions is located, will be restored by TIKA using modern scientific means to maintain the unique architecture. The region which will gain a feature with the added landscaping will be opened to the service of the international public.

This project aims to create a structure which commemorates the hospitality and tolerance shown by the Abyssinian King Asheme to the immigrating Moslems, whom he took under his wing, and to establish the conservation of an important historical-cultural heritage. In this context the project is planned to be completed by TIKA as soon as possible.

With the completion of the project in the scope of the protocol signed between TIKA Deputy Chairman Harun Tuncer and Kebede Amare on behalf of the State of Tigray Culture and Tourism Agency, it is expected to provide added value to the tourism sector in Ethiopia.
