TİKA Reaches out to the Homeless in Mexico with Mobile Clinic

The “Mobile Clinic”, which was prepared by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) to reach approximately 4500 people in need living in the streets of Mexico City, was put into service.

The Mobile Clinic, all designed and built by TİKA, was put into service with a ceremony held in the main historic square of Mexico City. Mexico City Governor Claudia Sheinbaum, Minister of Health Olivia Lopez, Minister of Social Welfare Almudena Rojo, Turkish Ambassador to Mexico Timur Söylemez, as well as many governorate officials and ministry of foreign affairs representatives, attended the ceremony.

In her speech, Mexico City Governor Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that this help from Turkey to Mexico is priceless for them, stating that it has met a great need. Ambassador Timur Söylemez and TİKA Mexico City Coordinator Sarper Çınar stated that the friendship between our countries is strengthened with these activities and that TİKA has contributed greatly to this process with its project volume increasing in Mexico every year.

Starting out with the slogan “From Turkish People to Mexican People”, the vehicle will serve in many districts of Mexico City, which has a population of approximately 22 million, with 11 meters of length and two cabins of 10 square meters. The Mobile Clinic provides ultrasound and X-rays, as well as general health screening and emergency response with its basic health equipment.
