20 August 2013Suppplies Were Provided To A Social Activities Center In Chad
Supplies were provided by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Directorate to 10 centers under the Chad Ministry of Family and Social Activities in the capital Encemine and 11 centers in Koundoul located 20 km from the capital.
A committee from TİKA visited the Chad Ministry of Family and Social Activities while working on projects continuing in Cameroon and Chad. With the contributions of the Turkish Embassy in Encemine, 11 Social Centers in the capital were given supplies to benefit widows and people who were physically handicapped in the civil war. The supplies provided by TİKA were given to the authorities in a ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Chad Minister of Family and Social Activities Baiwong Djibergui Amane Rosine, the Turkish Ambassador to Encemine Ahmet Kavas, the TİKA committee and the Social Activities Center authorities.
Each Activity Center, which had been standing empty with widows and young women since being opened due to financial constraints, was provided with two sewing machines to give sewing lessons. The Number 5 center was given a soldering machine to help men young and old who had been injured and left handicapped by the civil war learn the vocation of welding in order to make a living in the current standards of Chad.
Also chalk boards, chairs and tables were supplied to the centers in order to provide reading and writing courses to illiterate people. The projects and activities which have recently been started in Chad by TİKA with the support of the Turkish Embassy in Encemine are being greeted with great appreciation by the Chad authorities and public. In the speech made by the Minister of Family and Social Activities Rosine, much appreciation was expressed for the vital support provided by TİKA in the four social projects realized over the course of six months.
Minister of Family and Social Activities Rosine, who emphasized that the humanitarian and social assistance projects realized by Turkey in Chad have reinforced the bridge of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries, expressed gratitude to the people of Turkey in the presence of the Turkish Ambassador to Encemine. Turkish Ambassador to Encemine Ahmet Kavas pointed out the religious and community ties between the two countries that go back in history and promised that TİKA and other Turkish non-governmental organizations will continue to conduct projects towards the development of Chad.
