Support from TİKA to North Macedonian State Radio and Television

National Radio and Television of North Macedonian (MRT) renewed itself with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, and the studio of the Ethnic Minorit Communities Channel was opened with a ceremony.

TİKA’s Vice President, Mahmut Çevik, Chief Editor of MRT 4 Documentary Channel, Eran Hasip, TİKA employees and representatives of Turkish institutions in the region participated in the ceremony.

TİKA’s Vice President, Çevik said this support should be regarded as a gift from the Republic of Türkiye and emphasized that they are proud to be sharing their opportunities and resources with North Macedonia. Çevik indicated that they will be do their best to maintain the unity and respect between the two countries and nations through this communication channel. Çevik said, "Of course, globalisation has a great area of significance. While traditional media still survives, social media is rapidly gaining ground. In 2021, 360 million people used social media. Given that, we can understand what kind of a trouble communication is facing. We must obtain the correct information from the right sources and make sure that people reach that information. That is the important thing.”  Çevik added, "We owe our history to our languages. We have existed with our language and identity. This is applicable to all societies, to the Bosnian society, Romani society and Turkish society. We must respect our language. We have to respect each other. This is the reason why we have contributed to the opening of such a studio as the development agency of the Republic of Türkiye."

Chief Editor of Documentary Channel, Hasip said that MRT 4’s studio has been renovated and refurbished by TİKA. Hasip said, “They also donated computers to our offices. They had already repaired another studio for us. TİKA has sided with us for the last 10-15 years with projects which are of great help to us. We have always felt the support of the Republic of Türkiye.” Hasip thanked TİKA and especially Mr. Çevik for their support and stated, “Whenever we are in trouble, we can turn to them. They have never let us down. This is an important day for us, and we know this is not the end. I hope our cooperation will continue.”  

TİKA undertook the internal design of the studio and contributed to its technical infrastructure with a led screen, professional video system, audio mixer and software. The studio of National Radio and Television of North Macedonian (MRT) targets ethnic groups speaking Turkish, Bosnian, Vlach, Romani, and Serbian.
