The symposium “Women and Fashion in the Turkic World” was jointly by organized Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality within the 5th Ethno-Fashion Week.
The symposium “Women and Fashion in the Turkic World” was organized within the 5th Ethno-Fashion Week with the cooperation of TİKA, TÜRKSOY and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality in Bursa, the 2022 capital of the Turkic world. The opening ceremony took place in Tayyare Culture Centre. Artists from among the Turkic people living in Russian Federation and members of TÜRKSOY (Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Krygiztan, Tajikistan…) participated in the ceremony.
“Women and men have been peers and companions”
Assoc. Prof. Bilal Çakıcı, the Assistant Secretary General of TÜRKSOY, said he was pleased that the symposium took place in Bursa, the cultural capital of the Turkic world.
Çakıcı said they have come together to promote the shared Turkic culture and added, “Women have played a very important role in our deep-rooted Turkic culture. Never in our history have women been held inferior to men. On the contrary, men and women have always been peers and companions. Throughout history, our women have behaved selflessly and steadily especially when needed and maintained our tradition.”
“Women and Fashion in the Turkic World Fashion Show”
Having participated in the event, protocol members and fashion designers and artists from Turkic republics had a tour in the foyer area and visited the workshop and handicraft exhibition. The activities, which aimed to emphasize the important place of women in the Turkic world focusing on fashion and beauty and to demonstrate various roles of women, ended with the fashion show on October 6, 2022, where the products of Turkic World designers exhibited.
In the fashion show, models from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tatarstan, Azerbaijan, Bashkortostan and Mongolia gave a performance with clothes symbolising their countries.
