08 October 2018School Renovation and Equipment by TİKA in Kosovo
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) launched comprehensive renovation and equipment initiatives at the Elena Gjika Primary School, where 1,800 students receive education, in Pristina, Kosovo.
18 classrooms, 3 kindergartens, 1 library, and all other areas at the “Elena Gjika” Primary School in which approximately 200 students receive Turkish education were renovated and the classrooms were equipped with the educational appliances at the cutting edge.
The opening program of the project jointly organized by TİKA and Pristina Municipality was attended by Kıvılcım Kılıç, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, Pristina Mayor, Hasan Burak Ceran, TİKA Kosovo Coordinator, Municipality education manager, teachers, students, and other guests.
During the press conference held at the teachers' room which was also renovated, principal Fisnik Thaçi expressed their gratitude for the collaboration of TİKA and Pristina Municipality for the most comprehensive renovation and equipment works in the 70-year history of “Elena Gjika” Primary School and thanked the Republic of Turkey for that investment in education.
Pristina Mayor Shpend Ahmeti conveyed his thanks to TİKA and the Republic of Turkey for the project in the field of education, stating that the project contributed to the improvement of the quality of education in Kosovo. Emphasizing that education has a vital role in the development of the country; Ahmeti said it is pleasing to see children's having an education in modern conditions.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in Pristina, Kıvılcım Kılıç, pointed out during her speech that TİKA is an agency which develops and carries out projects not only in Kosovo but also all around the world and they are proud of TİKA, noting that the projects in education and health are primary and have a particular importance. Ambassador Kılıç also said TİKA develops noteworthy and utmost projects in these two fields and they are pleased with these projects.
Thrilled to see their renovated classrooms, students expressed their gratitude for the improved conditions of education and thanked the Republic of Turkey and TİKA.
