Protocol Of 10 Health Centers To Be Built In Bangladesh Is Signed

The protocol regarding 10 health centers to be constructed in Bangladesh by Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency is signed. The health centers which will be built in Dakka, Manikgonj, Narayangonj, Munshigonj, Faridpur and Jhinaidah are expected to be completed within 6 months.

Operating in general and technical education, vocational training and humanitarian aid areas in Bangladesh which is among the under-developed countries of the world, TIKA shall resume its operations in Bangladesh for healthcare with 10 health centers to be built. TIKA’s operations in Bangladesh are being conducted within the scope of Turkey’s promises for the Least Developed Countries.

Within this framework, the legal processes required for the construction of Health Centers are completed with the protocol signed by authorities and TIKA officials. The health centers that are expected to be completed within 6 months will be built in 6 regions including Dakka, Manikgonj, Narayangonj, Munshigonj, Faridpur and Jhinaidah and opened for service for Bangladeshis.

Concentrating in its operations in Bangladesh in 2012, TIKA shall complete 5 of 6 projects included in the decisions taken in Bangladesh-Turkey Mixed Economic Commission which was held in November 2012 in Dakka.

Computers and Sewing Machine Distribution
Concentrating in its operations in Bangladesh in 2012, TIKA established Computer Laboratory of 50 units called Turkey Bangladesh Friendship Computer Lab in Cox’s Bazar in order to contribute the dissemination of use of computers in schools. 40 computers were handed out to Municipality through different schools in the region. TIKA has also handed out sewing machines to 500 women in need who live in Cox’s Bazar and were studying in Sewing-Embroidery courses organized by the Municipality.

Projects for Vocational Training and Increasing Qualified Employment
TIKA executes operations on vocational training in Bangladesh, one of the most crowded and highly populated countries of the world. Vocational training is crucial for Bangladesh where is intensive immigration abroad. Since the labor forces that immigrate are not qualified, “expatriate money” which is extremely important for the country’s economy, is quite low. Acting on this particular need of the country, TIKA founded an Audio Visual Education Centre in the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh and donated technical equipment to be used in education on textile for Ministry of Citizens Living Abroad.

Also ABC Turkey Bangladesh Technical School which includes Ship Welding and Industrial Sewing departments is founded and opened for education by TIKA in Fatikchari, Chittagong which has an important place in Bangladesh’s trade.

Humanitarian Assistance Activities
Providing food support in August 2012 and March 2013 for Arakanese refugees who took shelter in Cox’s Bazar region of Bangladesh due to the problems in cross-country Myanmar, TIKA also offered help for Bangladesh people who live in the region in order to preserve social peace.
