Nyala Sudan Turkish Training And Research Hospital Inaugurated

Nyala Sudan-Turkish Training and Research Hospital constructed in the capital of South Darfur state of Sudan by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency upon special instructions by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was inaugurated.

Committed to assistance projects in Sudan, TIKA constructed Nyala Sudan-Turkish Training and Research Hospital to meet growing healthcare needs in Sudan. The inauguration ceremony was honored by First Vice President of Sudan Bakri Hassan Saleh, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Emrullah İşler, Turkish Minister of Health Dr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu, TIKA President Dr. Serdar Çam, TIKA officials, and representatives of various entities.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Emrullah İşler, in his statement to journalists following the ceremony, expressed his joy in witnessing such a modern hospital by TIKA in South Darfur. Noting that Turkish presence is continuously through TIKA action in this oppressed geography and in the world, Dr. İşler said: “I hope this will be auspicious for Sudanese people. This hospital will greatly contribute to Turkish-Sudanese brotherhood. Turkey is not engaged in this oppressed geography by a colonialist, exploitative logic. We will always extend our friendly hand.”

Turkish Minister of Health Dr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu defined the hospital as a modern, integrated facility and hoped that it would be auspicious to Sudanese people. Dr. Müezzinoğlu further stated that “Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan specifically requested the construction of this hospital. It is his work. Hereby I thank him on behalf of myself and Turkish people.”

TIKA President Dr. Serdar Çam noted in his address at the inauguration ceremony that he was overly joyed in inaugurating such a facility in Sudan upon special instructions by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and extended his gratitude to all those who labored in the effort.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr. Emrullah İşler and Minister of Health Dr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu were enthusiastically welcomed by the local people holding banners of “Welcome” and “Thank You” as well as camel riders and horse riders displaying vibrant joy. Dignitaries toured polyclinics and operating rooms in the hospital and were briefed by officials.

Nyala Sudan-Turkish Training and Research Hospital is built as a closed space of 11,000m2 located on a land of 50,000m2, boasting 46 intensive care beds, 150 regular beds, 3 surgery rooms, 2 birth rooms, a fully-equipped radiology unit and various laboratories. The project intends to address growing healthcare needs in Sudan.
