New Gym Built for the Guinean Police

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) built a new gym with professional sports equipment at the police academy campus where young Guinean cadets receive police training in the Dubreka district of the capital Conakry.

Over 1,000 young cadets had been receiving police training at the campus lacking the opportunities to improve themselves physically and psychologically. TİKA fulfilled the needs of the Guinean Police Academy with professional sports equipment procured from Turkey. 20 people will be able to train at the same time at this new gym which includes 2 treadmills, an elliptical trainer, a vertical climber, a recumbent bike, shoulder and bench press equipment, neck and shoulder workout machine, rowing and lat pulldown machine, quadriceps and hamstrings workout machine, multipurpose workout station, pull-up and dip bar, multipurpose bench, lower back workout machine, adjustable ab workout equipment, dumbbell bench, olympic rubber dumbbells of 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 17.5 and 20 kilograms, olympic plastic dumbbells of 2.5, 5, 10 and 15 kilograms, a bar of 152 cm, Z bar and regulator equipment.

Having spoken at the inauguration ceremony, Maramany Cisse, former Minister of Security and Civil Protection and the current Secretary of State and the Advisor to the President for the Reform of Security Sector, said: “I saw it with my own eyes at the gym; this equipment is a gem. This encouraged me to ask TİKA without hesitation about equipping the large gym as well. Just like our principal said in his speech, TİKA's support in education services and equipment procurement is based on the sincere friendship and relationship between the presidents of two countries.”

In his speech, Principal Toupou Albert Siba reminded that they had received trainings in Turkey on cybercrimes and protection against terror attacks led by Turkish experts with the support of TİKA and that they had also received trainings from Turkish experts in Guinea on protecting eminent people, and said that this new gym was the product of the cooperation between Turkey and Guinea.
