28 November 2022Medical Equipment Support from TİKA to North Macedonia
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided medical equipment support to the Clinical Hospital Thoracic Surgery Department in the city of Tetovo located in the northwestern part of North Macedonia.
Minister of Health of North Macedonia, Bekim Sali, TİKA’s Coordinator in Skopje, Halim Ömer Söğüt, Manager of Tetovo Hospital, Amir Elezi, and hospital staff attended the ceremony for the delivery of equipment.
Expressing his appreciation towards the continuing trend of modernization for the clinical hospital in Tetovo, Minister of Health of North Macedonia Sali said, “We are here for the promotion of the new modern medical equipment with the support of Turkish people through TİKA.” Sali considered the equipment support as an important investment for strengthening the thoracic surgery department and improving the working conditions in Tetovo Clinical Hospital.
Indicating that TİKA carried out more than 1200 projects in North Macedonia, TİKA’s Coordinator in Skopje Söğüt said that it implements the modality for the private sector, NGO, and public cooperation in the development of individuals, families, and the society in Macedonia.
Noting that TİKA carried out more than 30 projects in fields like the construction of community health centers and their medical equipment in different regions of North Macedonia, Söğüt reminded that they conducted critical projects in various fields such as the extensive modification and furnishing of the Emergency and Intensive Care Units of Skopje Paediatric Clinic, the extensive modification and furnishing of the Departments of Communicable Diseases and Preventive Dentistry and Child at Skopje Dentistry Faculty, mobile clinic health project carried out during the pandemic, and fully-equipped ambulances in the Gostivar and Prilep regions.
Tetovo Clinical Hospital serves as the main health center for approximately 150 thousand people, mainly Muslims, from Tetovo and neighbouring municipalities (Gostivar, Vrapchishte, Tearce, Bogovinje, and Želino). The hospital with a capacity of 200 beds provides treatment service with its departments of general surgery, thoracic surgery, internal diseases, paediatrics, neurology, gynecology and obstetrics, epidemiology, traumatology, and dermatology.
