July 15 Democracy Park Built in Tirana, Albania

July 15 Democracy Park was built by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in the Albanian capital of Tirana.

The opening ceremony of the park constructed on the bank of a man-made lake in cooperation with the Municipality of Tirana was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Tirana Murat Ahmet Yörük, Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, TİKA's Tirana Program Coordinator N.Özay Özütok, children, and their families.

Ambassador Yörük expressed that the park would serve the people of Tirana and their children and said, "The Mayor just recently showed me old pictures of this park. I would like to congratulate my dear friend Mayor Erion Veliaj for coming up with the idea to turn the swamp into an oasis and to reform it entirely."

After thanking TİKA, Turkey's brand and helping hand in the humanitarian projects it implements throughout the world, for initiating the park construction project, Yörük said, "May this park and recreational area, which is a gift from the Turkish people to their Albanian brothers and sister, fill your children with wonderful childhood memories of joyful times that they will positively remember in the future."

Tirana Mayor Veliaj drew attention to the unprecedented cooperation between his municipality and TİKA and said, "Following today's opening ceremony, this area will become one of Tiran's most visited sites. I would like to thank my Turkish and Albanian colleagues because we have built a brand new culture for Albania and Tirana."

He added that the cooperation between Veliaj, the Municipality of Tirana, and TİKA was being continued through various projects, including a tree-planting project, a dormitory restoration project, and children-oriented projects.
