Food Aid from TİKA to the IDP Camps in Cameron

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed food parcels to the camps in Maroua in Cameron.

TİKA granted 700 food parcels to the needy families trying to survive as internally displaced persons (IDPs) in harsh living conditions in Cameron.

The project was executed with the cooperation of Al Hayat Foundation, and food parcels that contain rice, salt, sugar and vegetable oil were distributed in Maroua in the far north of Cameron. The food parcels were distributed in 3 different IDP camps, where more than 4 thousand people live in total, within a ceremony hosted by Maroua Bogo Governorate.

Several Cameronians had to leave home because of the conflicts between the shepherds and farmers on the border of Cameron and Chad. It is estimated that approximately 30 thousand people stay in the camps on the Cameronian side.
