Equipment Support from TİKA to the Emergency Health Center Opened in Montenegro

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided medical equipment and office supplies to the Emergency Health Center in Gusinje Municipality, located in the northern region of Montenegro.

 

In Gusinje, which held the status of municipality in 2014, the 'Emergency Health Center', opened within the scope of the work carried out in cooperation with the Montenegro Emergency Aid Directorate and TİKA started to serve. The medical equipment and office supplies needed by the center, whose renovation works were completed by the Montenegro Emergency Aid Directorate, were provided by TİKA.

To the opening ceremony; Montenegro Minister of Health Dragoslav Scekic, Republic of Türkiye, Ambassador of Montenegro Barış Kalkavan, Mayor of Gusinye Anela Cekic, Mayor of Plav, Nihad Canovic, Mayor of Rojaye Rahman Husovic, Mayor of Petnitsa Samir Agovic, Mayor of Berane Vuko Todorovic, Mayor of Andriyevitsa Zelyko Culafic, General Manager of Montenegro Emergency Aid Directorate Vuk Nikovic, TİKA officials and many GusinJe citizens attended.

Starting his speech by expressing his sadness for the earthquake in Türkiye, Montenegro Health Minister Scekic thanked the Republic of Türkiye and TİKA for their support for the Emergency Health Center project.

Turkish Ambassador Kalkavan also stated that after the two major earthquake disasters in Türkiye on February 6, 2023, the Montenegro state and Montenegro people extended a helping hand to Türkiye and that Montenegro is Türkiye's true friend. Kalkavan expressed his gratitude to the Montenegro state and the people for their support.

Gusinje Mayor Hammer started his speech by conveying his condolences to those who lost their lives in the earthquake and their families.

Cekic stated that the putting into service of the Emergency Aid Center is vital for both Gusinje citizens and tourists visiting National Park Prokletije in the summer months.

Of the 450 projects TİKA has carried out in Montenegro to date, 55 are in the field of health.
