Deputy Prime Minister Çavuşoğlu Is In Sudan

Deputy Prime Minister Hakan Çavuşoğlu came together with Prime Minister of Sudan Bakri Hassan Saleh. Upon arriving at Sudan in the morning, Çavuşoğlu and the delegation, which included TİKA President Serdar Çam, were greeted by Sudan's Minister of Tourism Mohamed Mustafa Abu Zaid at Khartoum International Airport.

Prime Minister of Sudan Bakri Hassan Saleh received Çavuşoğlu at the prime minister's residence.

After a meeting that lasted approximately an hour, Çavuşoğlu made a statement to journalists.

Çavuşoğlu expressed that he started his three-day African tour in Sudan and had a very positive meeting with Prime Minister Bakri.

Çavuşoğlu stated that the bilateral relations gained momentum after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Sudan.

Çavuşoğlu expressed that decisions on various issues were reached following President Erdoğan's visit to Sudan and said, "We will continue to work towards the improvement of relations between the two nations. The main focus of this visit is to implement the decisions that were taken."

Çavuşoğlu also thanked the people of Sudan for supporting the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) with their prayers during the Operation Olive Branch, which is being carried out in northern Syria.

"Our aim is to transform Suakin Island into a center of attraction"

Çavuşoğlu provided information on the restoration of Suakin Island, which will be carried out by Turkey, and expressed that the island will become a center of attraction in the upcoming period.

Çavuşoğlu said, "Recently, a 20-person team from TİKA visited Suakin Island and determined the steps to be taken. Due to its position, Suakin Island cannot be used for military purposes. The rhetoric of certain countries aims to undermine the ties between Turkey and Sudan; however, our sole objective is to transform [Suakin Island] into a center of attraction."

During his two-day visit to Sudan, Deputy Prime Minister Hakan Çavuşoğlu is being accompanied by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) President Serdar Çam and a few members of parliament.
