Animal Production Support from Turkey to Sudan

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) updated the previous agreement to develop the Sudan-Turkey Gene Resources and Artificial Insemination Center in Sudan's Al Jazeera state.

TİKA Sudan Coordinator Bilal Özden, Governor Abdullah İdris and the director of the center Safa Abdurrahman attended the signing ceremony at the Al Jazeera Governorate.

Describing the Sudan-Turkey relationship as unique and rooted, Governor Idris said that Turkey's support could be seen in every field, and it is continuous. Stating that the center has prominent technical and scientific features, İdris noted, "In this way, we expect important developments in the field of livestock in Sudan”.

Abdurrahman, Director of Gene Resources and Artificial Insemination Center, stated that the agreement, which will be valid for five years, aims to meet the equipment needs of the center, to keep the records of the animals, and to access the quality certificate for the export of semen.

TİKA Coordinator Özden also stated that they updated the agreement regarding the center’s operation, which expired in February, by adding some new points. Özden emphasized that they expect the center to make a significant contribution to the Sudanese economy if it receives an international quality standards certificate.

After his return from Turkey on 25-29 August, Sudan Livestock Minister Hafız İbrahim Abdunnebi said that they agreed to improve the Gene Resources and Artificial Insemination Center in Menagil, built by TİKA, and to open new centers. He also stated that they met with Turkish business people to invest in livestock, slaughterhouses, quarantine centers and feed production in Sudan.
