Agricultural Capacity Building Project by TİKA in the South of Lebanon

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided 20 hand tractors to two associations operating in the Hasbaya Marjayoun region on the Israeli border and in the Yarine Village of Sur city.

Within the scope of the project, Al-Bunyan Islamic Association, which carries out activities for about 25 thousand people in Yarine Village of Sur and its neighboring villages, and Aman & Riaya Association, which operates for the benefit of about 30 thousand people in Habberiye Village and 14 neighboring villages in Hasbaya Marjayoun region, 20 hand tractor were provided.

The project aims to benefit Syrian refugees as well as Lebanese villagers engaged in agriculture, increasing agricultural capacity and bringing remote lands into agriculture.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Beirut Ali Barış Ulusoy, TİKA Beirut Coordinator Orhan Aydın, mayors, association representatives, town officials attended to the delivery ceremonies held in two seperate towns.

In these regions, where most of the people are engaged in agriculture, olives, grapes, figs, walnuts, various vegetables and tobacco are produced.
