50 Years of Experience is Being Shared with African Nations

Through a collaboration between  Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Turkey’s 50 years of experience is shared with the broadcasters from African countries.

Editors, directors and producers travel thousands of kilometers to TRT’s General Directorate Facilities for training. Knowledgeable broadcasters of TRT share their experiences on television and radio programs, production, camera and lighting with their colleagues. In all stages of the training, theory and practice follow one another.  TRT Ankara Radio dazzles African radio broadcasters with its studios and technical capabilities. African media executives visit the studios and find answers to their questions on radio broadcasting. In the television studios, they come together with colorful personalities the Turkish public know from the small screen and exchange their experiences.

Through a collaboration between TİKA and TRT in 2018, 75 media personnel from Namibia, Gambia, Zambia, Ethiopia and South Sudan received practical training in an extensive program.

In addition to the training sessions, the participants enjoy activities that convey Turkey’s thousands of years worth cultural accumulation. With Turkish baths, Turkish coffee, çiğ köfte (a spicy raw meatball dish) and examples of the local cousin from various regions, Turkey’s rich cultural background is shared with the participants in an unforgettable way.

Sofia Glenda from Namibian State Broadcasting Corporation expressed her gratitude by saying, “The training is very important to us, TRT has a great team, and a robust technical infrastructure, I learned new techniques on camera and lighting use. I wholeheartedly thank TRT and TİKA.”
