TİKA Supports the Health Infrastructure of Ecuador

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided Ecuador with 2 ventilators and 2 thermal cameras, which were urgently needed in the country, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, the Ministry of Health of Ecuador, and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Quito.

The delivery ceremony of the medical equipment was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador Luis Gallegos Chiriboga, Minister of Health of Ecuador Xavier Solórzano, and the Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Quito Hatice Oya Tunga Çağlı.

At the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador Luis Gallegos Chiriboga said, “In addition to providing this medical support, the Turkish Government has always been an important partner of Ecuador in international cooperation, as in the case of the earthquake of 2016. I would like to thank the Turkish Embassy and TİKA for this gesture of solidarity.”

In his statement, Minister of Health of Ecuador Xavier Solórzano said, “It is always pleasing to see the solidarity of friendly nations. This contribution will play an important role in our fight against the ongoing pandemic.”

The Republic of Turkey’s Ambassador to Quito Hatice Oya Tunga Çağlı stated that the support of the Turkish Government would contribute to the people of Ecuador, a friendly country.

The ventilators to be used in the intensive care units of hospitals and the thermal cameras to be placed at the entrances of public buildings will meet an urgent need in Ecuador, contribute significantly to the country’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and strengthen the country’s health infrastructure.
