TİKA Provided Medical Supplies to the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided medical supplies to the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania, to be used to combat the Covid-19.

Through this project, TİKA met the urgent needs of hospitals in Zanzibar to enable them to take preventive and protective measures in the fight against the pandemic and helped the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar to carry out its activities under better conditions by providing the medical supplies it needed.

In his speech at the delivery ceremony of the supplies, Dr. Abdullah Kheir Khatibu, Chief Physician of the Ministry of Health, expressed his gratitude to Turkey and TİKA for remembering the people of Zanzibar, a friendly nation, during these difficult times. Khatibu also stressed that states should stand in solidarity and cooperate with one another to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and said that the assistance activities carried out by Turkey not only in Tanzania but in many other parts of the world were highly important.

As part of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, TİKA also provided cleaning supplies and hygiene products to thousands of prisoners in prisons across Tanzania last month.
