Erenler Sofrası is in Uruguay

As part of the Erenler Sofrası Ramadan Program, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) distributed Ramadan packages to 300 needy families in Uruguay in cooperation with the Turkish Embassy in Montevideo.

The handover ceremony was attended by Nadya Rasheed, Ambassador of Palestine in Montevideo, who was invited by Hüseyin Müftüoğlu, Ambassador of Turkey in Montevideo. In their speeches both Ambassadors expressed their shock and terror regarding what has been going on in Jerusalem and Palestine recently, especially at the end of Ramadan which is perceived by Muslims as the month of peace. The violence against the people of Palestine was condemned at the ceremony and the Uruguayans were urged to show unity and solidarity with the Palestinians.

Ambassador Müftüoğlu underlined that under the leadership of the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish government and Turkish organizations have been maintaining diplomatic contact and showing intense efforts in order to sustain and protect the righteous cause and the inalienable rights of the people of Palestine, and he stated that Turkey would always stand by Palestine.

Having underlined that it was the World Keffiyeh Day, Palestinian Ambassador Rasheed wished that this special day, which belonged to the Keffiyeh, one of the most important symbols of the people of Palestine, would become a day of solidarity between the peoples of Uruguay and Palestine, and she expressed her gratitude towards Turkey for always standing by Palestine.
