Painters of the Turkic World Meet in Safranbolu

The 22nd Meeting of Painters, held by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) with the support of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), continues in Safranbolu, Karabük.

The 22nd edition of the “Meeting of Painters”, one of the traditional events jointly held by TİKA and TÜRKSOY, began with a press conference held in Safranbolu, a historical town in Türkiye, on August 16, 2022. The conference was attended by Elif Köse, Mayor of Safranbolu; Elçin Gafarlı, TÜRKSOY’s Representative for Azerbaijan and the Project Coordinator; and many painters across the Turkic World.

At the conference, Elçin Gafarlı said, “Several events are now being held in order to offer a closer look at Turkish painting, to improve the relations between our painters, and to ensure sharing of experience. For this purpose, TÜRKSOY held the Meeting of Painters, an art workshop where Turkish painting is kept alive and our cultural richness is conveyed onto the canvas.”

Safranbolu’s cultural heritage will be introduced to the world

Sultan Raev, Secretary-General of TÜRKSOY, noted that this year’s edition is being held in Safranbolu, a UNESCO World Heritage site. He added that the beauty of Safranbolu is a great source of inspiration for painters, that painters from across the Turkic world will convey this beauty onto their canvases, and that Safranbolu’s cultural heritage will be introduced to the world through the brush strokes of painters from the Turkic world.

Artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Moldova), the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia, the Chuvash Republic, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), North Macedonia, and Kosovo will attend TÜRKSOY’s 22nd Meeting of Painters, which will be held in Safranbolu from August 16 to 28, 2022.
