TİKA Continues to Support Kosovo's Education Infrastructure

Within the scope of the Experience Sharing Program (TPP 2022), Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) carried out the Establishment of a Library in Nazım Hikmet Primary School in the Dobërçan village as a part of the volunteering activities of students from Türkiye.

TİKA provided library support to Nazım Hikmet Primary School, where Turkish education is also provided, in Gjilan in Kosovo. Volunteer students who had come from Türkiye as a part of TPP 2022 participated in the modification and furnishing work in the library.

Minister of Regional Development of Kosovo and President of Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP), Fikrim Damka, Ambassador of Türkiye to Kosovo, Çağrı Sakar, TİKA’s Coordinator in Kosovo, Cihan Dinçer, MP of KDTP, Enis Kervan, Mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni, Manager of Yunus Emre Institute, and a great number of teachers and students attended the opening ceremony of the library.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Fikrim Damka said, “The Republic of Türkiye indicates its support for the people of Kosovo through a new project. The support for education through getting our children adopt the habit of reading is the support for our future and bright tomorrows. I thank TİKA on behalf of the Government of Kosovo for the countless projects in education, health, cultural heritage, and various other fields.”

In his speech, Ambassador of Türkiye to Kosovo, Çağrı Sakar explained, “If we can educate the young people of Kosovo which has a very young population, we believe that we can contribute more positively to Kosovo’s future.”

Taking part in the opening ceremony, Mayor of Gjilan, Alban Hyseni stated, “Knowing that education is our future, this library and these books will serve Albanian and Turkish students who study together in this school.”
