Water and Sanitation Program to Somalia

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) carries on to support trainings in the form of 1-week short course to Somalia in the field of water and sanitation.

In cooperation with TİKA and Turkish Water Institute (SUEN), a short course program on water and wastewater management, treatment and technologies was organized for a group of 8 senior officials from the Somalian Ministry of Energy and Water Resources between 6-10 March 2017 at SUEN.

The course aimed to share the Turkish knowledge and experience by means of lectures in transboundary water management, drinking water and wastewater treatment technologies, groundwater management, design of septic tanks, integrated water resources management, runoff harvesting etc. as well as visits to treatment plants.

A special session was organized on the last day of the program to discuss the current water and sanitation problems and possible measures in Somalia followed by the handout of certificates to the participants.
