Tourism Education in Tajikistan by TİKA

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) organized a 60-hour theoretical and practical training program in Tajikistan, which will take 2 weeks in total, on waitering and kitchen services.

The training sessions that were carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan, were attended by instructors working at Adult Training Centers and teachers of vocational high schools.

After the year 2018 was declared the Year of Tourism and Handicrafts by the Government of Tajikistan, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) moved to action and organized a training program on waitering and kitchen services to share Turkey’s experience on tourism with Tajikistan.

A group of 42 people, consisting of the instructors working at Tajikistan’s Adult Training Centers and teachers from vocational high schools, attended the program.

The program, which was implemented as a ‘train the trainer’ course, took place in the Tourism Application Restaurant in Dushanbe Adult Training Center that was opened by TİKA in 2012. Two specialized instructors arrived from Turkey to provide the training and they offered theoretical and practical courses. In terms of culinary arts, the participants were taught about food production, hygiene rules, cooking techniques, pastries; in terms of waitering, they learned about carrying and collecting empty plates, serving, offering breakfast options, serving types, hygiene and sanitation with theoretical and applied courses.

The certificate ceremony that was organized following the training was attended by Deputy Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of Tajikistan Mirzozoda Abdusalom Nazarali, Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe Senior Clerk Ozan Akın, TİKA Dushanbe Coordinator Tarık Mete and other guests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nazarali stated that they consider TİKA as a very reliable partner for their ministry, they are very happy with the long-standing cooperation and they hope to see even more collaboration in the future. Nazarali expressed his gratitude to TİKA for its efforts culminating in such projects and thanked the instructors who provided the training.

After the ceremony, the food cooked by the program participants using the knowledge they have gained during the training was served again by the participants; allowing the guests to taste the food as well as to observe the quality of service.
