TİKA Supports Vocational Education in Tajikistan

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), in cooperation with the Committee of Tourism Development of the Republic of Tajikistan, established an Applied Training Center in the Department of Cookery and Pastry of the Service and Tourism Vocational High School in Dushanbe.

The tourism sector is a newly developing sector in Tajikistan and has major issues related to the provision of qualified employees. The service sector made a breakthrough especially in the capital city, Dushanbe, where several new restaurants offering different cuisines and hotels came into service. However, the sector faces serious problems in finding qualified employees.

Accordingly, an applied training center was established in the Department of Cookery and Pastry of the Service and Tourism Vocational High School in Dushanbe, which is the only educational institution providing vocational training in the field of tourism in the Capital, through the project carried out by TİKA.

As a part of the project, the whole center was renovated and all the necessary infrastructure and equipment for the applied training were provided. With the provided support, it is aimed to strengthen the educational infrastructure of the high school, increase the capacity of applied training, and ensure education under more modern conditions for the students.

The project carried out by TİKA aims to improve the practical skills of the students who study at the Dushanbe Service and Tourism Vocational High School which provides education to raise employees for the service sector in Dushanbe, to increase business opportunities, and to meet the qualified employee need of the sector.

The inauguration of the Applied Training Center in the Department of Cookery and Pastry of the Service and Tourism Vocational High School in Dushanbe was held with the participation of the President of the Committee of Tourism Development, Tociddin Curazoda, Deputy Minister of Labour, Migration, and Employment, Alisher Alizoda, TİKA’s Project Coordinator in Dushanbe, İbrahim Erbir, and representatives of different institutions.
