TİKA Supports Vietnamese Fishers

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provided 30 motorcycles to the families making a living from fishing in the An Giang, Ho Chi Minh, and Tay Ninh provinces of Vietnam.

In Southern Vietnam, about 90,000 Muslims living in the territories of An Giang, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon), and Tyn Ninh provinces, close to the Cambodian border, make their living from fishing and other seafood in the Mekong Delta.

Carrying out a project to solve the market problem of some of the families with no vehicles that need to cover distances to get their products to cities 70-80 km away, TİKA provided motorcycles with cold chains to 30 families. 15 of the motorcycles were distributed to families in An Giang Province, 10 in Ho Chi Minh Province, and 5 in Tay Ninh Province.

Speaking at the delivery ceremony, Truong Hoang Trong, the Governor of An Giang, stated that Türkiye and Vietnam are two fellow countries and that they are ready for any effort to improve their relations with Türkiye.

In her speech, Yeşim Baktır, TİKA’s Specialist, noted that the Government of Vietnam sent a Search and Rescue Team consisting of 120 people, 6 dogs, and 42 tons of supply to our country regarding the earthquake that hit 11 of our cities in the last February and expressed her thanks.
